Anegada Love Affair

Hello Sewing Friends!

If you were to sum up my wardrobe in three items it would be a pair of jeans, a cami, and a sweatshirt.  That’s all this girl really needs. It’s my mission in wardrobe life to find my Dream Three. So let’s talk about the sweatshirt, which entered our vocabulary in 1925. The sweatshirt is my layering workhorse, my cold weather go to, my around the house and around life staple.

I have two requirements with tops.  One, the sleeves have to either be long enough or ¾ length.  (None of that halfway right at the wrist, not quite long or short enough madness.) And, two, the top cannot have a tight or high neckline.  The boatneck is about as high as I can go without inducing a claustrophobic panic.

Enter the Anegada Sweatshirt - pattern one of my Dream Three!  A boatneck (I never knew I could have this in a sweatshirt, what love!), ¾ length sleeves, and an absolute dream to sew.  Match the notches up and the rest sews together in a snap!

I purchased the kit Halfmoon Atelier had available on her website.  The fabric was from Organic Fabric Company - french terry in pink. I love the heavier weight and the kit came with matching thread and the appropriate needle, making sewing this up even easier.

Anegada

I loved this so much, I immediately pulled out some of my stash of knit fabrics from my T-shirt misadventures and made a white and blue version. These are a lovely weight and a long sleeve t-shirt feel.  I left the cuffs off, however I might change the length and shorten the sleeves slightly as I find that I want them to hit just a little higher.

In quite possibly the best version I’ve made yet, I hacked a mashup of the Anegada and Primrose Pullover to create a sweatshirt dress for a Christmas Fun Run in December!  I will be wearing this all winter, and most of spring and fall. Best neckline meets a tunic length for snuggly comfort. #youcanhackit baby

Folks, I’ve found the first pattern of my Dream Three!  My Anegada Love Affair!

With that, I’ll sign off, wearing my Anegada and going to watch White Christmas.  Shamelessly. In February.

Sewing confidently,
